Say Hello to Euphonia …

JUST LOOK AT THIS PRECIOUS LITTLE BABY! Lemon/Splash/Banana (no Scatterscroll for this one)! :D

And eventually, she’ll be getting Crystal, and either Shimmer or Facet (I think I actually like her better with Shimmer, although she’s pictured here with Facet):

And I thought I’d share her namesake bird, since I think I really NAILED it this time. She’s named after the Thick-billed Euphonia:

I’ve opened at least 100 chests, and STILL NO EGG!!! I’ve gotten a fair number of familiars, but NO EGG!!!! Come on, RNG. SMILE DOWN UPON ME. *goes back to grind in the Arena until I fall asleep at my computer*

The site is so slow right now, I can’t even do all my Digging turns, but I’ve found 10 of the chests so far? I don’t even know what to think about this PLEASE START WORKING AGAIN FR SITE I NEED THESE DRAGONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And Pink/Orange/Lemon sounds super cute. In a not-exactly-Shadowy darkness kind of way. But still. Probably just needs to sit in front of the mirror and repeat, “I am darkness, I am death” over and over). ;)

I am thinking I will record the melody a cappella (and as evenly paced as I can) as a starting point. How does the key of the in-game version work for you? Too high? Too low? Let me know and I will do a little croaking.

aedancousland - The in-game key work fine for me. I can’t nicely hit the lowest note that Mother Giselle sings, but I suspect I’ll be of more use up in Leliana’s range anyway. ;) And I’m already starting to play with harmonies, if that’s something we want to do. :D

As someone who was never told the Santa myth, never believed him and still remembers being four or five and watching my parents put presents under the tree, I’m curious as to why?

What the fuck’s the point, really?

He’s everything children are taught not to trust and yet children are told to adore him because he’s Santa Claus.

And, like, why would you lie to your kids about where their gifts came from? You know that just leaves you to deal with their disappointment when Santa doesn’t deliver. Because Santa’s magic and he’s always supposed to deliver.

Like, I don’t get it.

I’m with you on this. Even when E was small, we never pushed Santa on him too much (I even told him, when he was a baby, that Santa was made up). At that time, it was mostly because I didn’t like the idea of lying to my son, not even about something as culturally “acceptable” as Santa.

But as I get older, I get more and more creeped out by the whole idea. He’s basically a stalker (although given “permission” somehow for seeing you while you’re sleeping, and knowing when you’re awake), and the whole idea of punishing “bad” children, and rewarding “good” ones is not cool.

And then there’s the issue of taking children to sit on the lap of some random guy at the mall. I get so grossed out by that now. I’m sure that the vast majority of people who dress up like Santa are good people. But there’s a sort of weird thing around consent with this - I’ve seen so many reticent children basically FORCED to sit in Santa’s lap. And … eww. Just ewwwww.
